The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 07N78W to 10N85W to 05N91W to 11N121W, then resumes near 10N133W to 07N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted within 90 nm either side of the monsoon trough between 89W and 121W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A weakening cold front extends across Baja California Norte from 32N114W to 25N120W. Light to gentle winds prevail across most of the offshore waters this morning. The cold front will dissipate later today. Fresh to strong northerly winds will pulse across the Gulf of Tehuantepec through tonight. Fresh NW to N winds will develop over the central and southern Gulf of California tonight, and persist through Sat. Gale force winds are expected over the Gulf of Tehuantepec Fri night through Sat night as high pressure builds over eastern Mexico behind a Gulf of Mexico cold front. Large NW swell will reach the waters off Baja California this weekend, then subside early next week. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Fresh to occasionally strong NE to E winds will pulse across and downstream of the Gulf of Papagayo through Mon, with seas peaking around 8-9 ft downstream of the Gulf each morning. Gentle to moderate S to SW monsoon flow will persist across the offshore waters of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador during the next several days. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... NW swell persists across much of the region, with altimeter passes showing 8-9 ft seas south of 20N and west of 115W. Wave heights will continue subsiding today as residual swell decays. A cold front will reach the far NW portion this evening, cross the northern waters through Fri night, then stall and weaken on Sat. Associated large NW swell will sweep into the area late tonight, and propagate SE through the weekend. Seas will build to greater than 12 ft over the northern waters Fri through Sat, peaking around 22-23 ft over the far NW portion on Friday. $$ Mundell
