Gulf of Tehuantepec Gale Warning: A ridge across the eastern slopes of the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico and the western Gulf of Mexico currently supports minimal gale force northerly winds over the Tehuantepec region, with seas peaking near 16 ft. Winds will decrease below gale force on Sun as the gradient weakens, then continue to diminish through Mon. Looking ahead, another Tehuantepec gale force wind event is forecast Tue night into Wed. The axis of a tropical wave is near 93W N of 05N, moving W at around 15 kt. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 06N to 09N between 90W and 96W. The axis of a tropical wave is near 125W from 04N to 15N, moving W at 10 to 15 kt. No significant deep convection is noted. The axis of a tropical wave is near 135W from 04N to 14N, moving west at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 08N to 10N between 133W and 136W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 08N84W to 07N92W to 10.5N123W. The ITCZ extends from 08N137W to 07N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 04N to 08N E of 83W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 06N to 09N between 90W and 96W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 05N to 11N between 103W and 119W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 08N to 10N between 133W and 136W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Elsewhere, a ridge dominates the offshore forecast waters west of Baja California, supporting gentle to moderate northerly winds, and seas generally under 6 ft. Little change is expected through Tue. Expect gentle to moderate northerly winds across the Gulf of California this weekend with mainly variable winds afterwards. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... High pressure north of the Caribbean waters will support fresh to occasionally strong offshore winds across the Papagayo region through Mon night. Farther south, gentle to moderate S-SW monsoonal flow will continue across the offshore forecast waters of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador through early next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A surface ridge extends from 1026 mb high pres near 35N130W to near the Revillagigedo Islands. The pressure gradient between the ridge and lower pressure in the vicinity of the ITCZ and within the monsoon trough is supporting moderate to fresh NE trades N of them. No cold fronts are expected to reach the area during the next three or four days, and no significant long- period swell events are expected to impact the forecast region as well. Seas will briefly build to 8 ft across the far NW corner on Tue. $$ AL
