Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1515 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... Hurricane Juliette is centered near 22.8N 123.4W at 06/1500 UTC moving WNW at 10 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 987 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 65 kt with gusts to 80 kt. Numerous moderate convection from 21N to 24N between 122W and 124W. Scattered moderate convection is elsewhere from 21N to 25N between 121W and 125W. Additional weakening is expected during the next 48 hours, and Juliette is forecast to become a tropical storm later today, and degenerate into a remnant low by Sunday. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is from 11N to 15N between 90W and 102W. Isolated moderate convection is elsewhere from 06N to 09N between 91W and 103W. A tropical wave is from 07N to 15N with axis along 112W, moving W at 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is from 08N to 14N between 108W and 121W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 08N78W to 09N91W to 10N95W to 11N113W to 10N118W to 12N124W to 10N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is from 03N to 08N east of 85W, from 09N to 15N between 124W and 131W, and from 06N to 14N W of 134W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A ridge will build between hurricane Juliette, which is west of the area, and the Baja California peninsula. This will allow for winds to remain light and variable across the Baja California offshore waters through Fri and return to the normal NW to N winds by Fri night. Then, gentle to moderate NW to N winds will prevail through Sun, with fresh to strong winds N of Punta Eugenia through Sun night. Thereafter, moderate to fresh winds are expected N of Cabo San Lazaro through Tue morning. Elsewhere, moderate to fresh north winds are expected across the Gulf of Tehuantepec mainly at night during the weekend. Fresh to strong southerly winds may develop over the northern Gulf of California early on Sun as a low pressure trough deepens along the Baja California peninsula. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Moderate to fresh NE to E winds are expected in the Gulf of Papagayo through Sat. Elsewhere, mainly light to gentle winds will persist N of the monsoon trough, with gentle to moderate south to southwest winds south of the monsoon trough for the next several days.
