Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1515 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... Hurricane Juliette centered near 20.2N 119.1W at 05/0900 UTC moving NW at 8 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 976 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 80 kt with gusts to 100 kt. Scattered moderate convection is within 120 nm north and 150 nm south semicircles. Gradual weakening is forecast during the next few days, and Juliette is expected to weaken to a tropical storm on Friday. A tropical wave is from 04N to 13N with axis along 90W, moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is from 09N to 13.5N between 87W and 94W. A tropical wave is from 04N to 15N with axis along 105W, moving westward at 10 kt. Isolated moderate convection is from 06N to 11N between 101W and 104W. A tropical wave is from 04N to 15N with axis along 112W, moving westward at 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is from 05N to 12N between 110W and 116W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough axis extends from near 08N78W to 08N84W to 09N104W to 08N113W, then resumes from 13N121W and continues along 10N133W to 12N140W. Scattered moderate convection is from 08N to 13.5N between 118W and 129W, and from 09N to 17N W of 136W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Hurricane Juliette continues to move away from the Baja California Sur offshore waters. However, large waves will persist over the far western portion of zone PMZ015 and zone PMZ015 today through early Fri. A weak ridge north of Juliette will maintain light to gentle winds over the Baja California Norte waters through early Sat. The ridge will strengthen afterwards, thus supporting moderate to fresh northwest winds off the Baja California coast Sat through Sun and fresh to strong winds N of Punta Eugenia through Sun night. Thereafter, moderate to fresh winds are expected N of Cabo San Lazaro through Tue morning. Elsewhere, moderate to fresh north winds are expected across the Gulf of Tehuantepec mainly at night during the weekend. Fresh to strong southerly winds may develop over the northern Gulf of California early on Sun as a low pressure trough deepens along the Baja California peninsula. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms persist over Costa Rica and adjacent waters. Gentle to moderate south to southwest winds will prevail south of the monsoon trough for the next several days. Moderate to fresh northeast to east winds will pulse in the Gulf of Papagayo over the weekend. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Swell generated by Juliette will continue to propagate outward over the next few days, resulting in a large area of seas greater than 8 ft around the storm. Rough seas will continue near the center of Juliette through the weekend. Elsewhere, Tropical Depression Twelve-E west of the area will continue to move away from the forecast area, with lingering seas to 8 ft from 14N to 18N west of 138W expected.
