Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 2100 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... Tropical Depression Gil centered near 15.0N 126.3W at 04/2100 UTC moving W at 9 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1009 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 25 kt with gusts to 35 kt. Scattered moderate convection is within 60 nm in the NE quadrant of Gil. Gil is forecast to become a post-tropical/remnant low later tonight, dissipating Mon night. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted from 07N to 13N between 87W and 97W, and from 06N to 16N between 98W and 102W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 10N75W to 09N90W to 11N100W to 09N113W to 12N124W then resumes from 12N129W to 10N140W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted within 210 nm SW of the axis between 117W and 124W, from 10N to 14N between 116W and 120W, from 07N to 11N between 128W and 132W, and also from 07N to 11N W of 134W. Similar convection extends S of the coast of Mexico to 17N between 101W and 104W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Gentle to moderate NW flow will continue to prevail off the coast of Baja California as a high pressure ridge dominates the waters through the week, with little change in wind and sea conditions. Southerly swell will propagate into the waters south of 20N later today and linger through the middle of the week, subsiding thereafter. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gentle to moderate S to SW winds south of the monsoon trough will increase to moderate to fresh Tue through Thu. Elsewhere, moderate to locally fresh NE winds will prevail north of the monsoon trough near the Gulf of Papagayo region for the next several days. Seas will build greater than 8 ft over the southern waters Wed through Thu as significant southerly swell moves across the region. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Scatterometer data depicts gentle to moderate NE to E winds between the ridge and TD Gil. Otherwise, generally light to gentle winds prevail across the forecast waters. Southerly swell covers much of the region south of 20N and east of 130W. A recent altimeter pass shows 8-9 ft seas south of 01S along 112W. Seas of 8 ft or greater associated with this swell will expand north of the Equator tonight, and will reach as far north as 09N between 93W and 105W by Tue. $$ Lewitsky
