The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0145 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... Tropical Storm Gil centered near 14.9N 123.6W at 04/0300 UTC moving W at 10 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 35 kt with gusts to 45 kt. Strong westerly shear is keeping numerous moderate to scattered strong thunderstorms within 180 nm in the eastern quadrant of exposed center of Gil. Gil will continue to move WNW over the next couple of days, through an increasingly hostile environment. Gil is forecast to weaken to tropical depression strength Sun night, then dissipate by Tue evening. The axis of a tropical wave is near 95W to the north of 05N through the Gulf of Tehuantepec area, moving W around 15-20 kt. Scattered moderate convection was noted from 08N to 13N between 90W and 93W, and also from 07N to 14N between 95W and 97W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 09N75W to 10N87W to 07N95W to 11N104W. The ITCZ extends from 11N104W to 12N118W, then resumes from 10N127W to 09N134W to 11N140W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted from 05N to 10N between 80W to 88W, from 11N to 13N between 108W and 115W, and from 07N to 10N between 121W and 125W. Scattered moderate convection is from 07N to 11N between 127W and 131W, and also from 08N to 13N west of 135W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... High pressure ridging will dominate the waters west of Baja California through early next week. Southerly flow in the northern Gulf of California will briefly increase to fresh to strong late Sun night into early Mon due to a tightening pres gradient. Southerly swell will propagate in to the waters south of 20N next week. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Moderate to locally fresh NE winds will prevail N of the monsoon trough, while gentle to moderate S to SW winds will prevail S of the trough, increasing to moderate to fresh Tue through Thu. Southerly swell will propagate into the waters between the coast of Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands Sun, and continue to spread northward through next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Lingering seas that still spread slightly east of 140W will diminish later tonight.
