The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0215 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 91/92W, moving W around 15 kt. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted within 90 nm of the wave axis from 05N to 10N. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 10N86W to 11N92W to 07N111W. The ITCZ continues from 07N111W to 08N132W to beyond 07N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 03N to 10N between 96W and 114W. Scattered moderate convection was noted from 05N to 10N between 130W and 133W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Light to gentle winds prevail off the coast of Baja California Norte. Mainly gentle to moderate NW winds prevailed elsewhere across the open forecast waters, except off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, where fresh to locally strong winds prevail. Light winds prevail over the Gulf of California. Over the open waters off Mexico, seas are mainly in the 4-6 ft range, reaching 7-8 ft just west of Guadalupe Island, in N swell. Seas over the Gulf of California are 3 ft or less. High pressure west of Baja California will maintain gentle to locally moderate NW winds over the offshore waters through the weekend. Winds may briefly pulse to fresh to locally strong off Cabo San Lucas each late afternoon and evening for the next several days. Seas will subside below 8 ft off the waters west of Guadalupe Island tonight. Northerly gap winds are expected to develop over the Gulf of Tehuantepec late Mon as the local pressure gradient tightens. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gentle to moderate S to SW wind flow is noted across the forecast waters S of 06N, with light flow N of 06N. Seas are in the 5-8 ft range S of 07N, and 5-6 ft N of 07N. Long period SSW swell over the far southern waters will slowly subside through Sun. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure of 1032 mb centered well N of the area near 43N132W extends a ridge SE to just S of the Revillagigedo Islands. Gentle to moderate N to NE winds prevail N of 20N. Seas are in the 8-9 ft range in northerly swell N of 26N between 120W and 131W, and 5-7 ft elsewhere N of 20N. Gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere N of the ITCZ. Seas over this area are in the 4-7 ft range in mixed swell, except from 09N to 12N between 132W and 140W where seas are reaching near 8 ft. The northerly swell will continue to bring seas of 8 ft or greater across the waters west of Guadalupe Island between 120W and 131W through the remainder of the weekend before subsiding below 8 ft Mon. Farther south, southerly swell will continue dominating the waters east of 120W through early next week. Latest altimeter data revealed 8-9 ft seas reaching as far north as 06N between 92W and 105W.
