The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0230 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... Tropical Depression Nineteen-E 1002 mb is centered along the coast of Mexico near 27.0N 111.2W at 8 PM PDT, moving NNE at 6 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 25 kt with gusts to 35 kt. The depression will move inland overnight, then dissipate by Thu afternoon. Numerous moderate scattered strong convection is in the Gulf of California from 23.5N to 28N. T.D. 19-E will bring widespread heavy rain and gusty SW winds to the south-central Gulf of California and adjacent land areas during the next 24 hours. Life-threatening flash floods and landslides are possible through Thu. The monsoon trough extends from 09N79W to 11N100W to 10N109W, then resumes from a low pressure near 17N119W to 13N126W. The ITCZ continues from 13N126W to 12N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is from 07N to 11N between 105W and 115W. Scattered moderate convection is within 90 nm south of the convergence zone axis between 121W and 130W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Please see the Special Features section for details on Tropical Depression Nineteen-E located in the central Gulf of California. High pressure NW of the area supports moderate to fresh NW winds W of Baja California. Seas are 5-7 ft across the offshore waters. The pressure gradient will relax Thu night, allowing winds and seas to diminish by this weekend. The NW winds are expected to increase early next week as the gradient tightens just W of the Baja California Peninsula. A locally tight pressure gradient will support pulsing nocturnal northerly winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec the next few nights. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Offshore nocturnal winds will pulse to moderate to occasionally fresh near the Gulf of Papagayo the next several nights. Cross-equatorial SW swell reaching the Central American coast will slowly subside this weekend. The monsoon trough will meander near 10N the next few days. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... An elongated surface trough extends from the southern tip of Baja California to weak 1010 mb low pressure area centered near 17N119W. Ridging extends over the waters NW of the trough axis. Moderate to locally fresh trades are N of the convergence zone west of 120W, supporting seas to 8 ft from 13N-19N W of 130W.
