The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0300 UTC. INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough passes through coastal sections of Costa Rica near 10N86W, to 10N96W, to a 1007 mb low pressure center that is near 14N109W, to 10N128W, beyond 11N140W. Convective precipitation: Scattered moderate to isolated strong within 240 nm to the south of the monsoon trough between 99W and 113W, from 08N to 10N between 120w and 122w, and from 09n to 10n between 129w and 131w. Isolated moderate within 300 nm to the north of the monsoon trough from 109W westward. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A surface ridge extends from 20N105W to 22N116W, to 26N133W, beyond 32N136W. The latest satellite-derived wind data indicate moderate NW in the area. The sea heights range from 5 feet to 7 feet. The forecast for the first 24 hours consists of similar wind speeds and sea heights. Day two will consist of similar wind speeds and sea heights also. One difference is that a swell event will move sea heights that will range from 8 feet to 9 feet to the area that is from 18N northward from 123W westward. The Gulf of Tehuantepec: Expect N to NE winds from 20 knots to 30 knots during the next few days, and into the weekend. Expect sea heights to range from 8 feet to 10 feet. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light and variable winds and 4 to 5 ft seas are expected to the N of 08N through tonight. Seas will increase slightly to around 5 to 6 ft Thursday through Friday as a new round of cross equatorial SW swell reaches the region. Gentle to moderate SW to W winds, and 4 to 7 ft seas are currently observed across the area S of 08N, except S winds eastward of 84W, with a slight increase in seas with this new pulse of SW swell. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Winds less than 20 knots, and 8 foot sea heights are forecast from 06N to 09N between 108W and 115W during day one. The area will increase in size by the end of day two, from the Equator to 09N between 98W and 116W. Sea heights of 8 feet will be along and slightly to the north of 03.4S between 95W and 105W during day one.
