The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... A tropical wave axis is along 107W from 12N to 22N, moving west at 15 kt. Scattered moderate to strong convection is from 19N to 22N E of 108W. ..INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough axis extends from 09N83W to 1011 mb low pres near 08N89W to 1012 mb low pres near 14N104W to 12N115W to 1013 mb low pres near 15N127W to 13N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is from 06N to 12N between 90W and 99W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... The 1012 mb remnant low of Lidia near 31N119W will move north of the discussion area later today. Scatterometer data shows 10-15 kt winds near the low center. The eastern periphery of a weak ridge over the NW portion of the area will build eastward and persist through Thursday. The pres gradient will support gentle to moderate NW winds, and seas of 3 to 5 ft across these waters. Farther south, fresh overnight gap winds are possible through the Gulf of Tehuantepec early this morning and then again later in the week, with seas building to near 7 ft. Light to gentle winds and seas of 4 to 6 ft will prevail elsewhere. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Moderate to locally fresh offshore breezes in Gulf of Papagayo will shift west of the Gulf from 10N to 12N between 88W and 92W by Tue afternoon. Light variable winds are expected elsewhere N of the monsoon trough through Tuesday, and moderate to locally fresh southerly winds are expected S of the monsoon trough with 4-6 ft seas over the entire area. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A weak high analyzed near 27N132W extends a ridge to 23N119W. The gradient between the high and lower pressure associated with the monsoon trough will maintain mostly gentle trade winds N of 14N and W of 121W, with seas remaining 5-6 ft through Tuesday. Moderate SW winds are expected S of the monsoon trough through Tue. Long period cross-equatorial swell producing combined seas of 7-8 ft in SW waters today will slowly decay through late Tue. $$ Mundell
