Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0215 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... A tropical wave is moving across the Gulf of Tehuantepec with axis extending from 16N95W to 08N92W. Heavy showers and isolated tstms are from 13N to 16N E of 95W and from 05N to 10N between 88W and 94W. Isolated showers and tstms are elsewhere within 210 nm either side of the wave axis. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 07N77W to 10N90W to 10N94W. The ITCZ begins near 10N94W and cotinues along 07N106W to 10N114W, then continues west of a surface trough near 11N116W to 13N124W to 08N140W. Aside from the convection associated with the tropical wave, scattered heavy showers and isolated tstms are from 05N to 13N W of 120W. Similar convection is in the vicinity of the surface trough from 06N to 15N between 110W and 119W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... The remnant low of Dora is centered west of the offshore waters near 21N117W. Light to gentle variable winds are east of the low with seas of 4 to 5 ft along the Baja California peninsula and southward to Jalisco, Mexico offshore waters. The low will continue to drift west-northwest and is forecast to dissipate Friday. Fresh southerly winds are in the Gulf of California N of 30N E of 114W with seas to 4 ft. Light to gentle variable winds are across the remainder gulf with seas of 2-3 ft. Otherwise, light to gentle winds prevail across the remainder of the forecast area with 4-6 ft seas. Gentle to moderate winds off the coast of the Baja California through Saturday will diminish Sunday and Monday. Light to gentle winds will prevail over the remainder of the forecast waters off southwest Mexico. Model guidance shows southerly winds increasing to 20 kt in the northern Gulf of California again on Sunday. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Fresh to strong winds northeast to east winds are forecast for the Gulf of Papagayo E of 91W starting Friday early in the morning through the evening. Gentle to moderate SW to W winds are expected across the remainder region, except for southerly winds between Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Cross- equatorial southerly swell is subsiding across the region with seas of 8-9 ft, falling to 5-6 ft this weekend. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Light to gentle winds are from 10N to 20N west of 120W, with gentle to moderate winds prevailing elsewhere. Seas are 5-6 ft west of 120W. 8-9 ft seas in cross-equatorial swell south of 06N and east of 125W will subside below 8 ft by Saturday.
