Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1500 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 11N85W to low pres near 13N94W to 07N110W to 07N117W. The ITCZ extends from 07N117W to 08N130W to beyond 05N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 08N to 11N east of 90W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 05N to 15N between 90W and 97W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection was noted from 05N to 10N between 97W and 112W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... High pressure prevails west of the Baja California peninsula while a trough extends across the western Gulf of California. Winds are in the fresh to strong range off the coast of Baja California Norte, and moderate to locally fresh off the coast of Baja California Sur. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 7-8 ft range off the coast of Baja California Norte north of 28N, 5-6 ft elsewhere off the coast of Baja California, 1-2 ft over the Gulf of California, and 4-5 ft off the remainder of the open waters. Winds will pulse to strong off the coast of Baja California the next few nights. Northwest swell will propagate into the offshore waters off the coast of Baja California Norte Sun. The swell will propagate southward to near 25N while subsiding. Seas will fall below 8 ft by midweek. Fresh to locally strong SW to W winds are forecast north of 29.5N in the Gulf of California tonight through late Sun. Low pressure will meander south of Tehuantepec and southwest Mexico the next couple of days bringing active weather across these waters as well as portions of southern Mexico. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gentle to moderate westerly winds and 4 to 6 ft seas are expected north of 07N...and moderate southerly winds with 5 to 7 ft seas forecast south of 07N through Wednesday night. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A stationary front extends across the northwest waters. Weak high pressure of 1018 mb centered near 25N130W extends a ridge southeast to near 15N113W. Moderate to locally fresh northeast winds prevail north of the stationary front, while gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 4-6 ft range. The front will weaken today and dissipate by Sun. High pressure will build over the northern waters as the front dissipates. This will freshen winds north of the ITCZ early this week with seas building to 5-7 ft. $$ AL
