Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0200 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough begins at a 1007 mb surface low along the Caribbean coast of Colombia near 10N76W, extends west across Central America to 09N80W, lifts NW to 12N96W, then through 08N107W to 07N119W, where it transitions to the ITCZ and then continues to beyond 04N140W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is noted from 06N to 12N between 79W and 96W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... The pressure gradient associated with a high west of California near 40N134W supports moderate northwest winds west of the Baja peninsula through Tuesday, with seas of 3-5 ft in NW swell. Gulf of California: Gentle NW flow becomes light and variable late tonight, with light winds continuing through Tuesday. Gulf of Tehuantepec: Light and variable winds are expected through Wednesday. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Expect light and variable winds north of 07N through Wednesday, with combined seas of 4-7 ft primarily in sw swell. Moderate southerly flow is expected south of 07N through the middle of next week, with combined seas of 6-9 ft in long period S swell. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge will meander from near 32N140W to near 12N104W through Wednesday. Moderate anticyclonic flow with combined seas of 4-6 ft is expected through late Monday. A weak trough will sweep eastward across the waters north of 30N Monday night and Tuesday.
