Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
the Equator to 32N, east of 140W. The following information is
based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and
meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 
0200 UTC.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... 

The ITCZ axis extends from 07N110W to 05N122W to beyond 05N140W. 
Scattered moderate convection is within 45 nm either side of the 
axis between 118W and 132W, and west of 135W.

...DISCUSSION...   

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...

Fresh to locally strong northwest winds are present off the 
coast of the Baja California peninsula, with gentle to moderate 
winds prevailing elsewhere off the coast of southwest Mexico. 
Winds are light and gentle over the Gulf of California. Seas are 
6-8 ft off the coast of the Baja California peninsula, 4-6 ft 
over the waters off southwest Mexico, and 1-2 ft in the Gulf of 
California. Seas will build to 8-9 ft off the coast of Baja 
California Norte tonight, and up to 10 ft north of 30N. These 
seas will subside to less than 8 ft on Friday.

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND 
WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...

Gentle to moderate southwest winds are over the offshore zones 
off the coast of Ecuador while light to gentle southwest to west 
winds prevail elsewhere. Seas off the coast of Ecuador are 6-8 
ft in SW swell and 4-6 ft seas prevail elsewhere. Little change 
is expected through Friday. Dry stable conditions remain across 
these waters except SW of Costa Rica, where random clusters of 
showers and thunderstorms are evident. This area is expected to 
remain somewhat active through Thursday.

REMAINDER OF THE AREA... 

High pressure centered NW of the area near 35N140W extends a 
ridge southeastward to the Revillagigedo Islands. Scatterometer 
data shows moderate to fresh trades between the ridge and the 
ITCZ west of 120W. Seas in this trade-wind belt are 7-8 ft in 
mixed northeast wind waves and northwest swell. The trades are 
expected to diminish slightly as the high north of the area 
weakens and slides eastward through Fridsy, with seas subsiding 
to 6-7 ft. Gentle to moderate winds and 5-6 ft seas will prevail 
east of 120W into the weekend.
