The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 16N97W to 07N107W. The ITCZ extends from 07N107W to beyond 04N140W. Scattered moderate convection was noted within 90 nm of the ITCZ between 112W and 118W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Latest scatterometer data depicts fresh to locally strong winds off the coast of the Baja California peninsula, with gentle to moderate winds prevailing elsewhere off the coast of southwest Mexico. Winds are light and gentle over the Gulf of California. Seas are in the 6-7 ft range off the coast of the Baja California peninsula, 4-6 ft over the remainder of the offshore waters off southwest Mexico, and 1-3 ft over the Gulf of California. A fresh set of northwesterly winds will usher in seas to 9 ft off the coast of Baja California Norte later today. Seas over this area will subside below 8 ft by the weeks end. Elsewhere winds and seas will remain below advisory criteria. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gentle to moderate winds prevail over the offshore zones off the coast of Ecuador while light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere. Seas over the offshore wavers off the coast of Ecuador are in the 6-8 ft range in southwesterly swell while seas in the 3-5 ft range prevails elsewhere. The southwesterly swell continue to propagate and reach the offshore waters of Central America today, with seas in the 5-7 ft range prevailing through the weekend. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure of 1031 mb centered nw of the area near 34N141W extends a ridge southeastward to near the Revillagigedo Islands. Moderate to fresh trades prevail between the ridge and ITCZ west of 120W. Seas in the trade-wind belt are mainly 6 to 8 ft. Winds will diminish through weeks end with seas subsiding. By this weekend, gentle to moderate winds with seas in the 5-6 ft range will prevail. $$ AL
