Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 10N84W to 15.5N95W to 06N107W. The ITCZ extends from 06N107W to beyond 06N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted within 60 nm of the monsoon trough between 98W and 107W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Strong to near gale winds prevail over the far northern Gulf of California. Gentle to moderate winds prevail over the remainder of the forecast waters. Seas are in the 4-6 ft range over the far northern Gulf of California and 1-3 ft over the remainder of the Gulf of California. Seas in the 7-9 ft range prevail off the coast of Baja California Norte and 4-7 ft over the remainder of the forecast waters. Winds will remain in the 20-25 kt range over the far northern Gulf of California today, then pulse to near gale force again tonight. Seas will subside below 8 ft off the coast of Baja California Norte by the middle of the week. A fresh set of northerly swell will propagate into these waters Wednesday night into Thursday, with seas once again building above 8 ft. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds with seas in the 3-5 ft range prevail. These conditions will continue through the middle of next week. Southwesterly swell will propagate into the southern forecast waters Thursday building seas into the 5-7 ft range. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure of 1035 mb centered northwest of the forecast area near 37N146W extends a ridge southeast to near the Revillagigedo Islands. Moderate to fresh trades prevail north of the ITCZ and west of 125W, with seas generally ranging from 7 to 9 ft. Seas will remain in the 6 to 8 ft range through Wednesday within a moderate to occasional fresh trade wind flow. $$ AL
