The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1500 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 12N88W to a 1009 mb low near 15N99W to 07N120W. The ITCZ extends from 07N120W to beyond 05N140W. Scattered moderate convection was noted from 09N to 16N between 90W and 109W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Latest scatterometer pass indicates winds have diminished off the coast of Baja California Norte, showing moderate to fresh winds off the coast of the Baja California Peninsula, fresh to strong winds over the far northern Gulf of California, and light to gentle winds over the remainder of the Gulf. Gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 8-11 ft range off the coast of Baja California Norte, 3-5 ft over the far northern Gulf of California, and 1-2 ft over the remainder of the Gulf. Seas of 4-6 ft prevail over the remainder of the forecast waters. Seas will continue to subside over the waters off the west coast of Baja California Norte, falling below 8 ft by Tuesday. A fresh set of northwesterly swell will propagate into these waters on Thursday, with seas once again building above 8 ft. Winds will pulse to strong over the far northern Gulf of California over the next few nights. Elsewhere, winds and seas will remain below advisory criteria. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds with seas in the 3-5 ft range prevail. These conditions will continue through the middle of next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure of 1037 mb, centered northwest of the forecast area near 38N148W, extends a ridge southeast to near the Revillagigedo Islands. Moderate to fresh trades prevail north of the ITCZ and west of 125W. Seas range from 7 to 9 ft. Seas will continue to gradually subside through Monday and will remain in the 6 to 8 ft range late Monday through Wednesday within a moderate to occasional fresh trade wind flow. $$ ERA
