Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1445 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 08N85W TO 07N90W TO 06.5N108W where scatterometer winds indicate that the ITCZ forms, and then continues WSW through 04N122 TO 05.5N133W TO BEYOND 04.5N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted within 150 nm S of trough between 83W and 108W. Scattered to locally numerous moderate to strong convection is noted within 150 nm N and 90 nm S of the ITCZ between 108W and 140W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Strong to near gale force northwesterly winds are observed across the discussion waters n of 28N w of the Baja Peninsula to 123W, with 8 to 13 ft seas that will increase to 15 ft tonight. Moderate NW wind flow is expected elsewhere W of Baja today with 5 to 8 ft seas in nw swell, that will gradually increase to 6 to 9 ft seas from the N through Sat night. These seas should subside to less than 8 ft to the s of 30N on Sun night into Mon. Another pulse of NW swell will reach 30N120W on Mon night. Gulf of California: Mostly gentle to moderate southwesterly flow is expected through Fri night with a brief fresh to locally strong breeze possible over the gulf waters N of 30N on Sat morning. Gulf of Tehuantepec: Gentle to moderate southerly flow expected this weekend with fresh N winds possible around sunrise on Mon. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Mostly a gentle onshore breeze is expected during the next few days becoming offshore along the coasts at night. Combined seas of 4 to 5 ft in mixed SW and NW swell forecast during the next several days. Large long period SW swell will approach the offshore waters on Mon. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge will meander from near 33N138W to near 12N107W. Strong NW winds, and seas of 8 to 12 ft expected N of 28N east of 125W today through early Sat. Fresh NE trades are expected between the ridge and the ITCZ, with seas 7 to 8 ft through the upcoming weekend.
