The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0945 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 08N87W to 08N90W to 07N107W where scatterometer winds indicate that the northern ITCZ forms, and then continues sw through 03N127W to beyond 02N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica within 45 nm of 09.5N85.5W. Similar convection is observed within 120 nm either side of a line from 03N90W to 07N107W to 05N133W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Strong to near gale force northwesterly winds are observed across the discussion waters n of 28.5N w of the Baja Peninsula, with 8 to 13 ft seas that will increase to 15 ft tonight. Moderate nw flow is expected elsewhere w of Baja today with 4 to 7 ft primarily in nw swell, that will gradually increase to 6 to 9 ft seas from the n through Sat night. These seas should subside to less than 8 ft to the s of 30N on Sun night into Mon. Another batch of nw swell will reach 30N120W on Mon night. Gulf of California: Mostly gentle to moderate southwesterly flow expected through Fri night with a brief fresh to locally strong breeze possible over the gulf waters n of 30N on Sat morning. Gulf of Tehuantepec: Gentle to moderate southerly flow expected this weekend with fresh n winds possible around sunrise on Mon. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Mostly a gentle onshore breeze expected during the day becoming offshore along the coasts at night. Combined seas of 3 to 5 ft in mixed SW and NW swell forecast during the next several days. Large long period sw swell will approach the offshore waters on Mon. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge will meander from near 32N140W to near 08N106W. Strong nw winds, and seas of 8 to 12 ft expected n of 28N e of 125W today through early Sat. Fresh ne trades expected between the ridge and the ITCZ, with seas to 8 ft through the upcoming weekend.
