The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1500 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from the coast of Costa Rica near 09N85W to 05N90w to 05N101W, where scatterometer winds indicate an ITCZ forms and extends west through an embedded trough near 07N123W, then turns WSW to to 04N133W to beyond 04N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 05N to 12N between 113W and 123W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A weak surface ridge extends from near 22N116W to 14N105W. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds are observed south of 30N west of the Baja Peninsula, with 6 to 8 ft seas in long period NW swell. Strong to near gale force NW flow is observed north of the discussion area off the coast of Southern California. Strong NW winds and associated seas will spread south of 30N tonight, and reach near 25N by Tuesday night, then diminish Wednesday. Strong northwesterly winds are expected north of 28N late Wed night through Fri night, with combined seas of 11 to 16 ft. Gulf of Tehuantepec: A brief pulse of minimal gale force winds expected last night will quickly diminish to less than 20 kt by this afternoon. Expect maximum seas of 11 ft near 14.5N95W this morning to subside to less than 8 ft tonight. Gentle to moderate southerly flow is then expected the next several days. Gulf of California: Fresh to strong nocturnal sw winds are expected tonight across the gulf waters from 29.5N to 31N, with seas building to about 5 ft. Mostly gentle to moderate southerly flow expected s of 29.5N along a trough that will meander over the region this week. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... A gentle onshore breeze is expected during the day, becoming offshore along the coast at night. Combined seas of 3 to 5 ft in mixed SW and NW swell will prevail for the next several days. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge will meander from near 32N140W to 13N102W. Expect 7-8 ft moderate NW swell to gradually subside from the NW through mid- week.
