Gulf of Tehuantepec Gale Warning: Minimal gale force winds expected to diminish to near gale force before sunrise this morning. The pressure gradient will quickly relax today with winds less than 20 kt by early this afternoon. Expect maximum seas of 11 ft downstream of the gulf near 14.5N95W this morning to subside to less than 8 ft tonight. Gentle to moderate southerly flow expected the remainder of the period. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... Scatterometer winds indicate that the ITCZ forms at 06N86W and extends w through an embedded n to s orientated trough at 07N124W, then turns wsw to beyond 05N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted within 120 nm either side of a line from 03N84W to 07N96W to 08N112W to 05N138W, and also e of the trough within 150 nm of 09.5N119.5W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A surface ridge is meandering from near 22N116W to 14N105W. Moderate to locally fresh northwesterly winds are observed across the EPAC waters s of 30N w of the Baja Peninsula, with 6 to 8 ft seas primarily due to long period nw swell. Strong to near gale force nw flow is observed to the n of 30N with seas of 9 to 13 ft. The strong nw winds, and associated nw swell, will spread to along 29.5N tonight, and reach along 25N on Tue night before beginning to diminish from the s on Wed. Strong to near gale force northwesterly winds expected n of 28N late Wed night through Fri night, with combined seas of 11 to 16 ft, with the highest seas along 32N Gulf of California: Fresh to strong nocturnal sw winds are expected early this morning and again tonight across the gulf waters from 29.5N to 31N, with seas building to about 5 ft. Mostly gentle to moderate southerly flow expected s of 29.5N along a trough that will meander this week. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Mostly a gentle onshore breeze expected during the day becoming offshore along the coasts at night. Combined seas of 3 to 5 ft in mixed SW and NW swell forecast during the next several days. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge will meander from near 32N140W to 13N102W. Expect nw swell, in the form of 7 to 9 ft seas, to gradually subside from the nw through mid week.
