The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 2100 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The northern part of a near-equatorial double ITCZ extends from 05N91W to 06N113W to 03N122W to 03N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is evident near the ITCZ axis, from 03N to 07N between 111W and 134W. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Weak ridging reaching from the north central Pacific to south of the Baja California Peninsula is maintaining generally gentle to to moderate winds across the region. An altimeter pass from this morning indicated seas to 9 ft off the coast of Baja. This is due to ongoing northerly swell reaching as far south as the Revillagigedo islands. A cold front well west of the area will be weaken as it moves eastward across the region north of 25N through early Monday. High pressure building the wake of the front will support fresh to strong northerly winds off Baja California Norte late Sunday through mid week. Strong westerly gap winds are likely over the northern portions of the Gulf of California late Monday into the early Tuesday as the weakening cold front moves through the area. Farther south, strong winds will develop through the Gulf of Tehuantepec Sunday and Monday as strong high pressure follows a cold front moving through the Gulf of Mexico north of the area. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds mostly onshore flow expected during the day becoming offshore along the coasts at night. Combined seas of 3 to 5 ft in mixed SW and NW swell forecast during the next several days. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Altimeter data and observations from buoy 43010 near 10N124W indicate seas of 8 to to 9 ft over a large area from 04N to 16N and west of 120W. This is in mixed northeast and northwest swell. A cold front extending from 30N130W to 25N140W will stall this evening and dissipate overnight. Large northwest swell associated with the front will build seas of 9 to 12 ft behind the front today. Expect swell to propagate eastward reaching from the northern Baja Peninsula to 07N140W by late Sunday, then subside early next week. $$ CHRISTENSEN
