The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The ITCZ is south of the equator. ...DISCUSSION... OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... High pressure of 1033 mb centered north of the area near 36N138W extends a ridge southeast to the Revillagigedo Islands. Moderate to fresh winds prevail off the west coast of Baja California Norte while gentle to moderate winds prevail off the coast of Baja California Sur. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere over the forecast waters. Seas in the 9-11 ft range prevail off the west coast of Baja California Norte, 7-8 ft off the coast of Baja California Sur, 2 ft or less over the Gulf of California, and 4-7 ft over the remainder of the forecast waters. Seas will subside today and Sunday, decreasing to around 8 ft of the west coast of Baja California Norte. Another set of northwest swell will build to the 10 to 12 ft range over this area on Monday, while seas off Baja California Sur will remain between 7 and 9 ft through the middle of next week. Looking ahead, a cold front will move across the Gulf of Mexico late next week. High pressure building behind the cold front may help induce near gale to gale force winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec area Thursday night into next Friday. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds and seas in the 3-6 ft range will prevail over the forecast waters through the middle of next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure prevails over the northern waters. The pressure gradient between the area of high pressure and the equatorial trough is generating moderate to fresh winds over the tradewind belt. Seas within this area range between 8 and 11 ft as long period northwest swell mix with shorter period northeast wind waves. Another round of large NW swell will reach the NW part of the forecast area tonight. this swell will propagate southeastward through early next week. Seas associated with this swell event will peak near 13 ft over the northern waters Sunday before subsiding. $$ AL
