The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0830 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The tropical wave that had been analyzed near 25W has been removed from the surface map as energy associated with the wave had been dispersed northward by a trough to the west of the wave. A new tropical wave has been added to the surface map with axis analyzed near 15W, S of 15N, and moving westward near 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 03N to 13N between 10W and 20W. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough enters the Atlantic through the coast of Africa near 13N17W and extends SW to near 07N27W. The ITCZ continues from 07N27W and extends to 03N51W. Scattered moderate convection is noted within 30 nm either side of the ITCZ. ...GULF OF AMERICA... A weak stationary front extends from central Florida to the north central Gulf. Moderate winds are found N and W of the Yucatan peninsula. Light to gentle winds are elsewhere across the Gulf. Seas are in the 1-3 ft range. For the forecast, the front will dissipate today. Moderate to fresh E to NE winds are expected each afternoon and evening north of the Yucatan Peninsula and into the eastern Bay of Campeche as a trough develops daily and moves westward. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate breezes and slight seas are expected across most of the Gulf through the early part of the week. Expect moderate to fresh SE winds and building seas across the western and south- central Gulf Tue through Fri between a trough over northern Mexico and high pressure over the Carolinas. ...CARIBBEAN SEA... A ridge of high pressure extends across the Atlantic waters N of the Caribbean. The pressure gradient between the area of high pressure and the Colombian low is supporting fresh to strong winds over the waters E of 79W. Moderate winds are noted elsewhere. Seas are in the 7-9 ft range E of 79W, and 4-6 ft elsewhere. For the forecast, fresh to strong E winds and moderate to rough seas will expand across most of the Caribbean through Fri. ...ATLANTIC OCEAN... The tropical and subtropical Atlantic waters N of 20N are dominated by high pressure, anchored by a 1033 mb high centered near 37N40W. Weak troughing is over the waters N of 22N near 50W. Gentle to moderate winds dominate the waters N of 20N, where seas are generally in the 3-6 ft range. Over the waters S of 20N, moderate to fresh winds, and seas of 6-8 ft prevail W of 35W. Light to gentle winds, and seas of 4-6 ft are found S of 20N and E of 35W. For the forecast west of 55W, a cold front will move into the region between northeast Florida and Bermuda Tue. The front will dissipate southeast of Bermuda through mid week. High pressure will build in the wake of the front with fresh to strong winds off the north coast of Hispaniola late Wed and Thu. $$ AL
