Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 2200 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... A tropical wave axis is near 20W south of 19N, moving west at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 07N to 12N between 19W and 25W. A tropical wave axis is near 40W south of 19N, moving west at 10 to 15 knots. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 02N to 06N between 38W and 44W. A tropical wave axis is near 57W south of 19N, moving west at 15 knots. Scattered showers are present in the vicinity of the wave axis. A tropical wave axis is near 74W south of 20N, moving west at 15 knots. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are in the vicinity of the wave axis. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough extends from 12N17W to 10N22W to 12N35W to 09N49W. The ITCZ continues from 09N49W to 09N55W, then resumes west of a tropical wave from 10N58W to the coast of Brazil. Aside from the convection associated to the tropical wave, scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is noted from 05N to 10N between 45W and 51W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted within 240 nm north of the ITCZ between 58W and 66W, impacting the ABC islands in the southern Caribbean Sea. GULF OF MEXICO... A 1022 mb high pressure is centered near 28N85W and remains in control across the basin. A trough is observed in the southwest Gulf from 23N90W to 18N93W. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are noted west of the trough axis. Light winds prevail over the NE Gulf around the high pressure center. Moderate winds prevail over the SW Gulf. Gentle winds prevail elsewhere. High pressure centered over the NE Gulf will allow for generally light to gentle winds across the area through Thu. Stronger winds are expected in the eastern Bay of Campeche and near the Yucatan peninsula at night due to local effects. CARIBBEAN SEA... Fresh to strong winds prevail over the central Caribbean. Fresh winds prevail in the eastern Caribbean. Gentle to moderate winds prevail in the western Caribbean. Fresh to strong trade winds are expected in the south-central Caribbean through Thu. Strongest winds will be tonight and Sun as a tropical wave moves across the region. Moderate to fresh winds are expected elsewhere. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A 1019 mb surface low is noted near 28N72W with a surface trough extending from 30N72W to the NW Bahamas. Scattered moderate convection is noted in the vicinity of the trough. Farther east, a 1023 mb high pressure is centered near 27N59W. Another surface trough extends from 30N45W to 21N51W. Moderate tradewinds prevail south of 20N, with light to gentle winds north of 20N. The low near 28N72W and trough from 30N72W to the NW Bahamas will linger through Sun night, then weaken Mon. Light to gentle winds are expected across the northern waters through Thu. Moderate to fresh easterly winds will prevail south of 23N between the Great Bahama Bank and 70W. Winds will pulse to strong speeds at night north of Hispaniola, including the approach to the Windward Passage through Tue. $$ AL
