A surface ridge extending SW from a 1024 mb high located at the border between central Alabama and Georgia covers the basin this evening. A weak pressure gradient across the region is supporting gentle to moderate return flow basin-wide. Otherwise, an upper level trough and shallow moisture support scattered showers in the NW Gulf. The surface ridge will prevail over the Gulf waters through early next week. Moderate to fresh E to SE winds are expected across most of the basin through Tue night, but light winds will prevail over the NE Gulf during this time. CARIBBEAN SEA... Two tropical waves are moving across the basin. See tropical waves section above. Fresh to strong trades will prevail across the south central Caribbean through early next week. Winds may pulse to near gale force along the coast of Colombia at nights. A third tropical wave may approach the Leeward Islands early next week. ATLANTIC OCEAN... High pressure dominates across the Atlantic waters with mainly fair weather. Light to gentle winds will prevail through the weekend as high pressure extends across the area from the Central Atlantic. A trough passing east through the area may bring some moderate to fresh westerly winds early next week N of 27N. $$ Ramos
