The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0950 UTC. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Sierra Leone near 08N13W to 04N21W. The ITCZ continues from 04N21W to 02N25W 04N37W. A surface trough is along 41W. The ITCZ continues along 00N43W to the coast of Brazil near 04N51W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 04S to 07.5N between 25W and 53W. GULF OF MEXICO... A vigorous upper level trough extends from the Missouri Valley to eastern Texas, and supports a cold front across this area. Scattered strong thunderstorms associated with these features are moving southward across eastern Texas and the north half of Louisiana, and quickly approaching the coasts of SW Louisiana and far eastern Texas. Strong convection that moved into the NW Gulf earlier tonight has shifted eastward, where a line of scattered moderate convection was across the Mississippi and Alabama coastal waters. Scattered to broken clouds and moderate to fresh southerly surface winds prevail across the NW and central Gulf ahead of the approaching front. High pressure extends southwestward from the western Atlantic to the eastern Gulf of Mexico, and will shift eastward today, ahead of the approaching cold front across east Texas. This cold front will move into the NW Gulf of Mexico this afternoon, with strong thunderstorms moving southward across the Texas and Louisiana coastal waters ahead of it. The front will from the Florida Big region to near Tampico, Mexico Thu morning, then weaken as it reaches from SW Florida to 23N92W Fri morning, then reach from NW Cuba to just offshore of the Yucatan Peninsula Sat morning. High pressure will settle in,to the NE Gulf behind the front Fri night through Sun. CARIBBEAN SEA... Stable atmospheric conditions persist across the eastern Caribbean, where scattered clouds and isolated showers prevail. Fresh to strong tradewinds continue across the south central Caribbean offshore of Colombia, and across the coastal waters of northern Honduras. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are seen within 90 nm of the coast of western Panama and Costa Rica. High pressure, that is moving across the NW Atlantic Ocean, will shift NE through Friday. This will allow for diminished tradewinds across the E and central Caribbean Sea this afternoon through Saturday. Smoke from agricultural fires in Central America is reducing the visibility in the western Gulf of Honduras and will likely continue for the next few days. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A cold front passes through 31N55W then becomes stationary through the central Bahamas to Cuba near 22N79W. Broken to overcast multilayered clouds, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are within 180 nm NW of the front from the Bahamas t beyond 30N. The current frontal boundary will become stationary along about 25N and dissipate tonight. Another cold front will move off the southeastern U.S. coast and into the NW forecast waters Thu night preceded by fresh to strong southerly winds and active weather beginning late this afternoon. The front will reach from near 31N76W to the Florida Keys Fri morning, and weaken as it reaches from 31N68W to the central Bahamas to central Cuba Sat morning.
