The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0930 UTC. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough extends from the coast of Sierra Leone near 08N13W to 04N16W. The ITCZ continues from 04N16W to 00N27W to 03S31W to the coast of Brazil near 02S41W. Scattered moderate convection is from 01N-06N between 20W-51W. Scattered moderate convection is from 02S-07S between 31W-36W. GULF OF MEXICO... A weak cold front extends from the Florida Big Bend region near 29N83W southwestward to NE Mexico near 25N98W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is well south of the front from 18.5N-23N between 94W-98W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is across the SE Gulf south of 26N. High pressure building SE off of Texas is producing fresh N to NE winds and seas 4 to 5 ft to the N of the cold front. The cold front will move SE across the eastern half of the Gulf today and reach from Tampa Florida to NE Mexico this afternoon and then move SE of the area into the NW Caribbean Mon morning. Another cold front will move into the northern Gulf Wed night. CARIBBEAN SEA... 15-25 kt trade winds prevail over much of the Caribbean Sea, with winds to 30 kt and seas 10-11 ft just off the coast of Colombia. Strong SE winds prevail across the Gulf of Honduras. Atmospheric conditions remain very stable across much of the basin with only isolated thunderstorms along the Panamanian coastal waters, while widely scattered showers are moving across the NE Caribbean. High pressure extending from the central Atlantic to the NW Bahamas will maintain fresh to strong trade winds over the south- central Caribbean through Tue before weakening. Strong east to southeast winds over the Gulf of Honduras will pulse again Sunday night before diminishing early this week. Smoke from agricultural fires in Central America will likely reduce visibility over the Gulf of Honduras for the next several days. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A cluster of strong thunderstorms continues from the Straits of Florida across the NW Bahamas, as energetic SW winds aloft continue to maintain unstable conditions across the region. A 1025 mb surface high near 30N46W extends a ridge WSW to the NW Bahamas, yielding anticyclonic flow across the area waters. A weak cold front along the SE U.S. coast early this morning will move offshore and continue southeastward today through tonight, and reach from 28N65W to the NW Cuba coast by Mon morning then quickly weaken as it drifts further SE through Tue night. The front is expected to stall across the central Bahamas Wed as high pressure slides eastward along 31N. Yet another cold front will move off the SE U.S. coast Wed night into Thu preceded by fresh to strong southerly winds and active weather. $$ Stripling
