Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0500 UTC. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough extends from the coast of Sierra Leone near 08N13W to 04N15W. The ITCZ continues from 04N15W to 00N27W to 03S31W to the coast of Brazil near 03S41W. Scattered moderate convection is from 00N-06N between 17W-50W. Scattered moderate convection is from 03S-08S between 31W-36W. GULF OF MEXICO... As of 26/0300 UTC, a cold front extends from the Florida Panhandle near 31N86W to 26N90W to NE Mexico near 25N98W. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is from 21N-26N between 93W-99W. A surface trough extends from 23N89W to the Yucatan Peninsula near 18N91W. Scattered moderate convection is E of the trough axis from 18N-23N between 84W-89W. !5-20 kt northerly winds are W of the cold front. The cold front will move across the northern Gulf tonight, then reach from near Tampa Florida to the SW Gulf on Sun. The front will move SE of the area into the NW Caribbean on Mon with high pressure building in it wake. Another cold front will move into the northern Gulf Wed night. CARIBBEAN SEA... 15-20 kt trade winds are over the Caribbean Sea. A 1008 mb low is centered over N Colombia near 10N74W. Scattered showers are over N Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica. Elsewhere, scattered showers are over the E Caribbean E of 70W. High pressure extending from the central Atlantic to the NW Bahamas will maintain fresh to strong trade winds over the south- central Caribbean through Tue before weakening. Strong east to southeast winds will pulse at night over the Gulf of Honduras this weekend. Smoke from agricultural fires in Central America could reduce visibility over the Gulf of Honduras for the next several days. ATLANTIC OCEAN... Scattered showers are N of the Bahamas from 27N-29N between 76W- 78W. A 1028 mb high is centered over the central Atlantic near 30N43W. A cold front will move off the SE U.S. coast Sun night and cross the offshore waters N of 22N Mon through Tue night. The front is expected to stall across the central Bahamas Wed as high pressure slides eastward along 31N.
