The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis. Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 2200 UTC. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Sierra Leone near 08N13W to 03N18W. The ITCZ continues from 03N18W to 00N34W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is from 02N to 10N between 04W and 18W. Scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is located from 01N to 06N between 20W and 29W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 01N to 06N between 29N and 42W. GULF OF MEXICO... As of 23/2100 UTC, a cold front is located in the NW Gulf from near Lake Charles, LA, at 30N92W to near Brownsville, TX, at 25N98W. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is to the E of this front, N of 28N. Ahead of the front, 15 to 20 kt S winds are occurring over the SE Gulf. Satellite imagery shows dense smoke over the south central and southwestern Gulf, south of 26N and west of 88W. The cold front will continue moving E across the northern Gulf tonight and Fri. A second cold front will move into the NW Gulf Fri night, then eventually extend from S Florida to the SW Gulf Sun. High pres following in the wake of this front will move from the southern plains Sun night to the western Atlc Wed. CARIBBEAN SEA... Fresh trades are being observed throughout the Caribbean, except for off the coast of Colombia, in the Gulf of Honduras, and in the Yucatan channel, where strong SE winds are being observed. A 1010 mb low centered near Cartagena, Colombia, at 10N76W is inducing scattered showers and thunderstorms within about 90 nm of the coast. Aside from some moderate convection over Costa Rica and Panama, most of the remainder of the Caribbean is dry. Dense smoke is noted on satellite imagery over Honduras, the Gulf of Honduras, Guatemala, the Yucatan Peninsula, and S Mexico. Strong E to SE winds will pulse at night over the Gulf of Honduras through Sun night. A ridge across the western Atlantic will maintain fresh to strong trade winds over the S central Caribbean through Tue night. Moderate to fresh trades are expected elsewhere through Sat. Smoke from agricultural fires over Central America could reduce visibility over the Gulf of Honduras for the next several days. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A 1025 mb high is centered near 33N66W, or near Bermuda. A dissipating cold front stretches from 31N52W to 24N61W, with scattered showers and thunderstorms along it. A 1026 mb high is over the E Atlantic near 34N33W. A cold front will move off the SE U.S. coast Fri through Sat morning. Strong to near gale force S to SW winds are expected ahead of this front N of the Bahamas tonight and Fri. Showers and thunderstorms ahead of the front could generate wind gusts to gale force N of 29N and W of 74W during this time frame. Another cold front will move off the coast of northern Florida Sat night, then extend from near Bermuda to S Florida Sun.
