Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1715 UTC. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Sierra Leone near 08N13W to 03N19W. The ITCZ continues from 03N19W to 00N29W to the coast of Brazil near 04S39W. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is from 02N-07N between 14W-18W. Widely scattered moderate convection is from 06N-05S between 24W-54W. GULF OF MEXICO... As of 22/1500 UTC, a cold front extends from Port Saint Lucie Florida to Tampa Florida to Mobile Alabama. The front is void of precipitation. 10-20 kt SE return flow is over the Gulf of Mexico S of the front. Strongest winds are over the NW Gulf. A developing low pressure system over the U.S. southern plains will pull fresh to strong SE to S winds across the basin through Thu. The low will drag a cold front across the northern Gulf Thu through Fri. A second cold front will move into the NW Gulf Fri night, then extend from S Florida to the SW Gulf Sun. CARIBBEAN SEA... 10-15 kt trade winds are over the Caribbean Sea. Scattered showers are over the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, and south of Hispaniola. Elsewhere, isolated moderate convection is over N Colombia and NW Venezuela. E to SE winds will increase over the Gulf of Honduras tonight, then continue through Fri, in response to a cold front moving across the NE Gulf of Mexico. A ridge over the western Atlantic will maintain fresh to strong trade winds over the S central Caribbean tonight through Sun. Moderate to fresh trades are expected elsewhere Thu through Sat. ATLANTIC OCEAN... As of 22/1500 UTC, a cold front is over the W Atlantic from 31N62W to 25N70W to central Cuba near 22N78W. Scattered moderate convection is within 150 nm S of the front E of 70W. A reinforcing cold front is over the W Atlantic from 31N73W to Port Saint Lucie Florida near 27N80W. This front is void of precipitation. A 1027 mb high is over the central Atlantic near 37N33W. The tail end of a dissipating cold front is over the E Atlantic from 31N29W to 27N36W. Scattered showers are over the Canary Islands. The leading W Atlantic cold front will slowly push SE today, then dissipate from SW to NE tonight through Thu. Fresh to strong SW winds will precede the front N of 27N this morning.
