000 AXNT20 KNHC 201106 RRA TWDAT Tropical Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 805 AM EDT Sat Jul 20 2019 Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1050 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... An Atlantic Ocean tropical wave is along 18W/19W from 21N southward. The position of this wave was held slightly to the east of the 20/0000 UTC position based on long-loop satellite imagery. Isolated moderate rainshowers are from 04N to 11N between 07W and 26W. An Atlantic Ocean tropical wave is along 14N45W 05N50W. Isolated moderate rainshowers are from 10N between 40W and 50W. A surface trough is along 30N41W 24N43W 18N43W. Broken low level clouds and possible rainshowers are from 18N northward between 20W and 50W. An Atlantic Ocean tropical wave is along 21N50W 06N53W. Isolated moderate rainshowers are from 10N southward between 50W and 55W. A Caribbean Sea tropical wave is along 69W from 20N southward. Rainshowers are possible from 15N to 20N between 64W and 74W. A Caribbean Sea tropical wave is along 86W from 21N southward. An upper level trough is along 12N73W to 15N74W, to 20N79W near the Caribbean Sea coastal areas of Cuba. Scattered to numerous strong rainshowers cover the coastal waters/coastal plains of from central sections of Honduras eastward, and in the Gulf of Honduras. Isolated moderate rainshowers cover the rest of the NW corner of the Caribbean Sea, from the Windward Passage westward and northwestward. A 500 mb inverted trough also is in the area of the tropical wave. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough extends from the coast of Guinea-Bissau near 11N15W, to 09N18W 09N23W and 07N32W. The ITCZ extends from 07N32W to 05N49W. Other rainshowers are possible, from 11N southward, from 60W eastward, not counting the precipitation that is accompanying each tropical wave. GULF OF MEXICO... An upper-level trough extends from the SW corner of Florida to the Yucatan Peninsula, to 26N100W in Mexico. Isolated moderate rainshowers are from 23N northward, and from 20N southward in the SW corner of the Gulf of Mexico. A ridge will remain along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast through Monday, and then shift S on Tuesday. Gentle to moderate E to SE winds will continue across most of the basin, except for fresh winds NW of the Yucatan Peninsula each night through Wednesday night. CARIBBEAN SEA... An upper level trough is along 12N73W to 15N74W, to 20N79W near the Caribbean Sea coastal areas of Cuba. Scattered to numerous strong rainshowers cover the coastal waters/coastal plains of from central sections of Honduras eastward, and in the Gulf of Honduras. Isolated moderate rainshowers cover the rest of the NW corner of the Caribbean Sea, from the Windward Passage westward and northwestward. The monsoon trough is along 08N/09N between 75W in Colombia, beyond 84W in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Isolated moderate rainshowers are from 11N southward from 80W westward. Rainshowers are possible elsewhere from 12N southward from 77W westward. High pressure to the north of the area will support fresh to strong trade winds in the central Caribbean Sea through next week. The wind speeds will pulse to near gale-force each night, along the coast of Colombia through Sunday night. Fresh easterly winds will pulse in the Gulf of Honduras each night during this weekend. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A surface trough is along 28N65W 24N66W 20N66W. Isolated to widely scattered moderate and locally strong rainshowers are from 22N to 28N between 60W and 68W. An upper level trough is along 24N68W to 28N70W to 28N72W and to 26N80W. A surface trough is within 60 nm to the east of Florida, from Cuba to 29N. Isolated moderate to locally strong rainshowers are from Cuba to 28N, within 180 nm to the east of Florida. A ridge along 29N/30N will maintain gentle to moderate east to southeast winds across the region through Wednesday night.
