Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1745 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... ...Gulf of Mexico Gale Warning... A cold front is forecast to enter the western Gulf of Mexico tonight from 30N88W to 21N95W to 18.5N95W. North to northwest gale force winds are forecast south of 21N and west of the front with seas 8 to 11 ft. ...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ... The monsoon trough extends from the coast of Sierra Leone near 07N11W to 00N19W. The ITCZ continues from 00N19W to 01S29W to the coast of Brazil near 02S42W. Scattered moderate convection along the monsoon trough and ITCZ from 02N-02S between 09W-21W and closer to the coast of Brazil from 07S-00N between 29W-40W. GULF OF MEXICO... The warm front is lifting away from the Gulf coast across the southeast and middle Texas coast. Meanwhile, areas of fog are observed in the north-central portion of the basin. Smoke also continues to move north into the Bay of Campeche west of 90W. South-southeasterly fresh to strong winds are seen north of the Yucatan Peninsula and moderate to fresh to the northeast portion of the basin. A cold front will move into the NW Gulf tonight. The front will rapidly move across the Gulf waters, moving SE of the area Mon. A brief period of minimal gale conditions is expected off the coast of Veracruz Mexico on Sun. High pressure will build in the wake of the front. CARIBBEAN SEA... Clouds with low-topped showers are moving across the eastern and northern Caribbean. Showers are continue to move throughout the Greater Antilles. Showers are also seen moving across the Windward Islands. A surface trough is from the eastern Bahamas near 22N73W to south of 17N73W. Trade winds are moderate in the eastern Caribbean with gentle trades across the northern and southern basin. North of Colombia. winds are fresh to strong particularly from 11N-16N to 71W-77W. Fresh to strong southeast winds in the far western Caribbean and Gulf of Honduras will continue through the weekend before diminishing Sun night. Fresh to strong winds in the south-central Caribbean near the coast of Colombia will persist through Wed night. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A cold front enters the forecast waters near 31N33W and stretches to the west near 25N49W to 27N68W. From 27N68W, the tail-end of the boundary stalls to near 30N76W. Showers are moving along and 100 nm ahead of the front. A trough extends from 24N46W to 18N48W. Scattered showers are seen in the vicinity of the trough axis.Ahead of the front, winds are out of the south-southwest light to gentle. As the front passes, winds are switching to north between moderate to fresh isolated strong winds from 27N47W to 28N48W. Otherwise, gentle to moderate winds out of the east- northeast can be seen across the rest of the basin as a surface ridging prevails across the area anchored by a 1023 mb high near 31N16W. A weakening trough extending NE from the Windward passage to near 27N72W will move northwestward and dissipate tonight. High pressure will prevail across the area through Sun night. A cold front will move off the coast of NE Florida Sun night preceded by fresh to strong SW winds. The front will reach from Bermuda to Straits of Florida Tue, then weaken and become stationary from 27N65W to the northern Bahamas on Wed.
