The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0430 UTC. ...ITCZ/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from the African coast near 12N16W to 07N19W. The Intertropical Convergence Zone extends from 07N19W to 07N30W to the South American coast near 06N54W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is from 03N to 08N between 24W and 33W. Scattered moderate convection is elsewhere from 03N to 12N between 21W and 40W. ...DISCUSSION... GULF OF MEXICO... A surface ridge axis extends SE across the western and central Gulf from high pressure centered over the central United States. This is supporting generally fair weather and gentle to moderate NE to E winds over this portion of the basin. A surface trough is over the eastern Gulf with an axis extending from 28N85W to 23N84W. Scattered showers are S of 28N and E of 87W. Moderate northerly winds are W of the trough over the eastern Gulf. Moderate NE to E winds are E of the trough. Over the next 24 hours the trough will drift SW. Little change is expected elsewhere. CARIBBEAN SEA... A stationary front extends from central Cuba near 21N78W to 18N83W. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are within 90 nm of either side of the front. Moderate NE winds are NW of the front. A surface trough is over the SW Caribbean with an axis extending from 17N79W to 09N76W. Isolated thunderstorms are S of 13N W of 73W. Moderate northerly winds are W of the trough, except fresh to strong within 60 nm of the coast of Nicaragua. Generally fair weather and moderate easterly trades cover the remainder of the central and eastern Caribbean. Over the next 24 hours the front will begin to dissipate. Little change is expected elsewhere. ...HISPANIOLA... Isolated showers and thunderstorms continue over the island, as moist southwest flow aloft prevails over the region. Little change is expected over the next 48 hours. ATLANTIC OCEAN... A cold front over the W Atlantic enters the area of discussion near 31N67W and extends to the central Bahamas near 23N75W to central Cuba near 21N78W. A pre-frontal trough extends from 28N67W to 21N73W. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are within 90 nm W of the front S of 28N, and within 300 nm E of the front. Another cold front enters the area of discussion over the central Atlantic near 31N47W and extends to 28N52W, where it transitions to a stationary front to 25N58W. Scattered showers are within 60 nm SE of the front. A surface trough extends from 20N53W to 13N54W. No significant convection is noted with this trough. A dissipating stationary front is over the eastern Atlantic from 31N16W to 22N21W to 17N36W. No significant convection is noted with this front. Over the next 24 hours the west Atlantic front will become stationary. The central Atlantic front will move E. The E Atlantic front will transition to a surface trough.
