As of 05/2100 UTC, a cold front extends from S Florida near 27N80W to W Cuba near 23N82W. NW winds 20 knots to 30 knots, with frequent gusts to 35 knots, and sea heights ranging from 8 feet to 10 feet, are to the N of 28N E of 86W. These conditions are expected until 06/0000 UTC. The Monsoon Trough crosses the western African coast near 08N12W and extends to 05N13W, where the ITCZ begins and extends to 01S27W to 00N40W to the South American coast near 00N50W. Widely scattered moderate convection is from 00N-04N between 00W-15W. Widely scattered moderate convection is from 06S-05N between 18W- 32W. ...DISCUSSION... ...THE GULF OF MEXICO... As of 05/2100 UTC, a cold front extends from S Florida near 27N80W to W Cuba near 23N82W. Radar imagery shows scattered showers over the Straits of Florida, and W Cuba, E of 83W. More scattered showers are over the NE Gulf of Mexico, and N Florida, N of 27N and E of 86W. Also over the NE Gulf N of 28N E of 86W, NW winds are 20 knots to 30 knots, with frequent gusts to 35 knots. Elsewhere W of front winds are northerly 10-25 kt with lightest winds along the coast of Texas. In the upper levels, an upper level trough is over the Gulf with axis along 85W, supporting the cold front. Expect in 12 hours for the cold front to be out of the Gulf. ...THE CARIBBEAN SEA... As of 05/2100 UTC, a cold front extends from W Cuba near 23N82W to the Yucatan Peninsula near 19N88W to S Mexico near 17N94W. A prefrontal trough extends from 21N82W to Honduras near 15N86W. 15 kt NW winds are N of the trough. 15-20 kt tradewinds are over the remainder of the Caribbean Sea. Scattered showers are over the W Caribbean E of front to 80W. Clusters of scattered moderate convection are presently over N Venezuela,N Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras. More scattered showers are over E Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, the Leeward Islands. In the upper levels, a broad ridge is over the Caribbean Sea with axis along 70W. In 24 hours, expect the front to extend from E Cuba to NE Honduras with convection. ...HISPANIOLA... Presently scattered showers remain over the island especially over the higher terrain. Expect prefrontal convection over the island in 24 hours. ATLANTIC OCEAN... As of 05/2100 UTC, a cold front extends from the W Atlantic near 31N78W to S Florida near 27N80W. N of 29N W of the front SW-to-W winds are 20 knots to 30 knots, with frequent gusts to 35 knots. Scattered moderate convection is N of 26N between 75W-79W. Scattered showers are over the N Bahamas. A large 1025 mb high is over the central Atlantic near 32N52W. Elsewhere, scattered showers are over the Cape Verde Islands.
