DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the small eye of Hurricane Seymour was located near latitude 15.6 North, longitude 113.8 West. Seymour is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h). A west to west-northwest motion is expected through tonight. A turn toward the northwest is forecast to occur on Wednesday. The maximum sustained winds have increased to near 115 mph (185 km/h) with higher gusts. Seymour is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Additional strengthening is expected today, but Seymour is forecast to begin weakening on Wednesday. Seymour is a small tropical cyclone. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 10 miles (20 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km).
