DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Seymour was located near latitude 15.3 North, longitude 111.3 West. Seymour is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h), and this motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected through Tuesday. A turn toward the northwest should occur by Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds have rapidly increased to near 100 mph (155 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is likely, and Seymour is forecast to become a major hurricane tonight or Tuesday. Seymour is a small hurricane. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 10 miles (20 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km).
