DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Darby was located near latitude 16.0 North, longitude 119.1 West. Darby is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h). A westward or west- northwestward motion at a slightly slower forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 90 mph (150 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected on Friday. Gradual weakening is forecast to begin late Friday night or on Saturday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km).
