DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 AM CDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Willa was located near latitude 14.8 North, longitude 105.7 West. Willa is moving toward the west near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the northwest and then north at a slower forward speed is expected through Wednesday, keeping Willa well offshore of the coast of Mexico during that time. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Rapid strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Willa is expected to become a hurricane on Sunday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
