DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Hilda was located near latitude 15.4 North, longitude 122.6 West. Hilda is moving toward the northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h), and this general motion should continue through Wednesday, followed by a turn to the west on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Some weakening should begin by tomorrow and continue through midweek. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km).
