DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Rick was located near latitude 20.0 North, longitude 102.5 West. The depression is moving toward the north near 14 mph (22 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue into tonight. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast during the next 24 hours, and Rick is expected to dissipate over the mountainous terrain of Mexico by tonight or Tuesday morning. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb (29.74 inches). RAINFALL: Rick is expected to produce 5 to 10 inches of rain with isolated storm total amounts of 20 inches across sections of the Mexican states of Guerrero and Michoacan through Tuesday. This heavy rainfall will likely produce flash flooding and mudslides. SURF: Swells generated by Rick will affect portions of the southwestern coast of Mexico through early Tuesday.
