DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Linda was located near latitude 19.3 North, longitude 119.2 West. Linda is moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). A turn toward the west-southwest is anticipated this evening followed by a turn back to the west on Monday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 115 mph (185 km/h) with higher gusts. Linda is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Continued gradual weakening is forecast during the next several days. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 959 mb (28.32 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Linda are expected to affect portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico and the southern and western coast of Baja California Sur over the next few days.
