DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Linda was located near latitude 19.3 North, longitude 118.2 West. Linda is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h). A turn toward the west is anticipated by early Sunday, followed by a turn toward the west-southwest early Monday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 125 mph (205 km/h) with higher gusts. Linda is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some fluctuations in intensity, due to a possible eyewall replacement, are possible through this evening. However, a steady weakening trend is forecast to commence soon. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 955 mb (28.20 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Linda are expected to affect portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico and the southern and western coast of Baja California Sur over the next few days.
