DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Linda was located near latitude 14.1 North, longitude 107.1 West. Linda is moving toward the west-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h), and this motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through the weekend. Satellite-derived wind data indicate that maximum sustained winds remain near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days or so, and Linda is expected to become a hurricane later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 993 mb (29.33 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Linda are expected to affect portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico over the next few days.
