DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Linda was located near latitude 14.4 North, longitude 102.8 West. Linda is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h). A slight westward turn is forecast later tonight, followed by a turn back to the west-northwest late this week. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is expected during the next few days, and the depression is forecast to become a hurricane on Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Linda are expected to affect portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico over the next few days.
