DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Blanca was located near latitude 13.9 North, longitude 109.4 West. Blanca is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A slower west-northwestward to northwestward motion is expected during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is expected tonight and Tuesday morning. Gradual weakening is forecast to begin by Tuesday night and then continue through Thursday. Blanca is a small tropical cyclone. Tropical-storm-force winds only extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb (29.47 inches).
