DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM HST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Barbara was located near latitude 18.6 North, longitude 134.7 West. Barbara is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and a turn toward the west with an increase in forward speed is expected over the next 48 hours. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Barbara is forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone on Saturday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches).
