DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Ernesto was located near latitude 51.9 North, longitude 20.0 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the east-northeast near 35 mph (56 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue for the next 12 to 24 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast to continue, and Ernesto should merge with a frontal zone by tonight. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) to the southeast of the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
