DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 AM GMT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gaston was located near latitude 38.6 North, longitude 30.2 West, just west of the central Azores. Gaston is moving toward the west-southwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the west is anticipated later today. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast over the next few days, and Gaston is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches).
