DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Thirteen was located near latitude 10.8 North, longitude 22.2 West. The depression is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h), and this general motion is forecast to continue through this afternoon. A motion toward the west-northwest is expected tonight and Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of the depression should pass well to the south of the Cabo Verde Islands today and tonight. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today and a hurricane by Tuesday night or early Wednesday.
